What is Lydia's Legacy?

Adopted at the Michigan District LWML 2000 Convention, this endowment was established to help perpetuate the charitable wishes and ministries of the Michigan District LWML.  Your generosity will continue to benefit the LWML and the LCMS for many years.

The Lydia Legacy Endowment Fund, as of Feb. 15, 2008 is at $88,271.10 with a goal of $100,000.  We reached our first goal in four years.  Let's continue to aim to reach our goal in the near future.  Any request for interest funds will be reviewed by a Finance Committee.  The money will be available for scholarships, mission trips, retreats, conferences, etc.

 Who was Lydia?

"One of those listening was a woman named Lydia...who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message." Acts 16:14    Lydia hard-dyed purple cloth and the money she made selling her beautiful cloth was used to help support the mission work of Paul, helping to bring the Good News of Jesus to others.

How do I leave a gift in memory of a person for Lydia's Legacy?

A gift to Lydia's Legacy is a beautiful way to recognize or pay tribute to someone who has made a difference in your life. This kind of memorial gift can be created in different ways. Examples are a direct gift of cash or stock deferred gifts through your will or trust, or by designating Lydia's Legacy as a beneficiary of life insurance or retirement benefits. Many of our Lutheran members are remembering both their loved ones and the special ministry that is dear to their heart in their will.

You can help with Memorial or Honorarium Gifts, Mother's Day, Birthdays, Anniversaries, or Special Occasions.

Who can help me arrange for this gift?

Marcene Santacrose is the chairman of the Michigan District LWML Special Gift Fund. She can direct you to specialists who can assist you in making decisions regarding leaving your gifts to the Legacy. Contact Shirley through webmaster@mi-lwml.org

Please know, however, that your gifts of cash through memorials or gifts given in honor of persons special to you are just as important as those given through wills or trusts.

Now, through Lydia's Legacy you can support the work of the Michigan District LWML tomorrow as well as today.   Can't think of anything to give a friend or relative?  Let them know you remembered and honored them with a gift to Lydia's Legacy.
