“East Meets West”...
in a memorable way at a baby shower where two Christian women with so much in      common came together to share faith, fellowship and outreach with their friends and the community...

Cynthia Khan, knowing that Manisha Patidar and MaryBeth Heikkinen were both having a baby with the same due date thought that it would be a great idea to throw them a joint shower. These two “women-in-waiting” also found out that they both have daughters born in the same month and year and are now expecting boys on 11/11/11. Additionally they both had difficulty conceiving and thank God for the blessing of their children. The event was lively and enjoyed by all with lots of fun, laughter and new friendships. This type of event can be used as an outreach by women with friends from other cultures.

"Jesus Our Lifesaver"

Kimberly Bumbalough (right) and Kassidy Fistler (left), members of the Friends Into Serving Him society at Hope, St. Helen, thought of the theme Jesus Is Our Lifesaver for Hope's trunk for the 2011 St. Helen Trunk-Or-Treat event on October 29.  The girls helped fill 600 snack bags with Lifesavers candy to hand out.  The bags also contained a business card printed with Jesus Is Our Lifesaver, a picture of a life preserver and information about the church.  The girls also made "Junkins" (the large pumpkins in the photo), decorated with bits of "junk" (bobbins, pins, zippers, buckles and other sewing items).  It was a cold night, but all of the bags of candy were given away, and everyone had lots of fun!

TIMBERLINE ZONE FALL RETREAT
Give Your Faith A Voice

The retreat was held on Saturday, September 17, 2011.  The LWML program Faith Talk was the basis for the retreat and was presented by Carol Wenzel, Trinity, Oscoda.  Rev. Wm. Hessler, Faith, Bridgeport also presented Chocolate And Christian Witnessing.  57 women attended and contributed 123 personal care kits for Lutheran World Relief.  Each woman made a witness necklace to remind her of the day and the precious salvation won for her through our Savior's death on the cross.  The day ended with a communion service led by Timberline Zone Pastoral Counselor, Rev. Rod Morrison.

1st Annual "February Family Fun Festival"
(sponsored by the Friends Into Serving Him Society at Hope Lutheran Church, St. Helen)

Kimberly Bumbalough, Kassidy Fistler and their Friends Into Serving Him advisor, Lois Hernandez, planned the February 19th Festival, which was a great success.  Non-perishable food items were collected as the admission "fees" and were given to St. Helen Helping Hands for their food bank.  Everyone signed a red heart, and the hearts were then made into a large cross.  Games included Wii, Scrabble and other board games, Pinochle, Euchre, Dominoes, relay races, fishing and more.  And the snacks were scrumptious!  The girls HOPE this will become an annual event.
